This picture was taken at Cerros de Mavecure, Guainía in Easter Colombia. This mountains are only accessible by river boat. They are made of granite and they are part of the Guianan Shield, which is often considered the oldest mountain range in the world. Granite rock is very hard it degrades very little over time.

The mountains are mostly bare rock, and yet, you can find interesting cracks and soil pockets, where many different plant species thrive despite the rather harsh conditions. This white and soft Mandevilla flower contrasts heavily against the dark and indestructible rock after putting up with a heavy shower.
