In 2019 I travelled to truly awe inspiring Ladakh.
Here, on the rooftop of Thikse Monastery, one of the monks stands in quiet contemplation, gazing out over the vast Indus Valley. The call to prayer has been made, the Dungchen long horns echoing the invitation into the far distance. The daily rhythms of ritual and reverence, sending reverberations of sacred stillness out into the world.
I felt this palpably and especially intensely within the butter lamp house of the monastery. Hundreds of lamps lit as an offering of light and wisdom in the world, burning steadily to dispel ignorance. Such a powerful place.
